Most fire protection companies will only touch a building they already maintain. That leaves asset owners holding a defect report they cannot action, on a system nobody will take responsibility for. Safe QLD takes on one-off major repairs and rectification work on its own merit, on buildings we have never serviced, from defect reports we did not write.

With over 60 years combined experience and a complete in house team of industry experts and technicians, we design, install, certify and maintain fire protection assets right across South East Queensland. That capability is what makes a genuine repair service possible. We are not limited to the faults that can be closed out with a spare part from the van, because the same business also drafts, project manages, installs, programs and commissions entire systems.

Whether it is a single failed component, a pump room that needs rebuilding or a full panel replacement, the scope goes to one contractor and comes back tested, documented and back in service. If you want us to keep it that way afterwards, we can pick the building up onto an AS 1851 maintenance agreement. If you do not, the repair still stands on its own.

A Defect Report Is Not a Solution

The routine service industry is built around inspection. A technician attends, tests, finds a problem and writes it up. Then the report lands with the building owner, the body corporate manager or the facility manager, and the search begins for somebody who can actually carry out the repair. Weeks pass. The system stays impaired. The defect rolls onto the next report, and the one after that.

Nobody goes looking for a fire repair contractor on a good day. These are the calls we take, and any one of them is a reason to pick up the phone.

Fire systems fail in fairly predictable ways. This is the diagnostic thinking our technicians bring to site, set out plainly so you know what you are dealing with before we arrive. Every case still gets tested and proven rather than assumed, because the obvious cause is not always the real one.

When the Repair Is Really a Project

End-of-Life Systems, Panel Replacements and Sprinkler Upgrades

There is a point where rectification stops being a repair and becomes a capital works item. An unsupported fire indicator panel that fails every quarter. A pumpset that no longer makes its duty point no matter what is rebuilt. A sprinkler system that was designed for a use the building no longer has. Patching those is money spent to stand still.

Because Safe QLD carries design, drafting, project management, installation, programming and commissioning in house, a rectification can scale straight up into a project without changing contractors midway:

  • Fire indicator panel and detection system replacements, including staged cutovers on occupied buildings
  • Electric and diesel pumpset replacement and pump room rebuilds, with staged isolations and temporary protection

Keep the Building on One Contractor, If You Want To

Plenty of the buildings we now maintain came to us as a one-off repair. The owner had a problem, we fixed it properly, and holding the routine servicing with the same team simply made sense afterwards. That is an invitation, not a condition. The repair works either way.

Fire Repair & Defect Rectification FAQs

Do I need a maintenance contract with Safe QLD before you will do a repair?
No. We take on one-off repairs and defect rectification for buildings that are maintained by somebody else, or by nobody at all. You do not have to move your routine servicing to us to have the work done, and there is no obligation attached to the quote. If you decide afterwards that you want the building held under one contractor, we can pick up the AS 1851 maintenance as well, but that is your call, not a condition of the repair.
How fast can you attend an urgent fire system fault?
Safe QLD is on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with a two hour response from the Gold Coast to the Sunshine Coast for urgent impairments. Urgent means a system that is out of service or unreliable right now: a pump that will not start, a sprinkler system shut down or leaking, a fire indicator panel that will not reset, or a building being evacuated on repeat alarms. Can you work from another contractor's defect report?
Yes, and it is one of the most common ways we are engaged. Send us the defect report, the AS 1851 service records or the consultant's or auditor's findings and we will price the rectification against them item by item. Where a listed defect is unclear, already resolved or has been mis-diagnosed we will tell you before you spend money on it. You do not need to have fallen out with your current maintenance contractor to bring us in on the repair.
Do you handle the certification and compliance paperwork after the repair?
Yes. Every repair is closed out with the test results, photographs and the records needed to clear the defect from your AS 1851 documentation and your annual occupier's statement. Where a rectification is significant enough to need certification we prepare the evidence, commissioning data and as-installed information and coordinate with your building certifier and consulting engineers. We are QBCC licensed, licence number 1143420, and CM3 Prequalified.
Can you quote a fire system repair before attending site?
Sometimes. Where a defect is clearly described in a report, with the make and model of the equipment and good photos, we can often price the work off the documents. Where the fault is intermittent, the system is old or the report is vague, an attendance and diagnosis is the honest answer, because a guessed price on a fire system is either padded or wrong. Either way you get a scoped, itemised quote with photos before any repair work starts.
